Use a muffin tin to practice the short vowel sounds. Place the gems in the “free” cup and dictate words to your student. The student then places a gem in the correct vowel sound that is heard. For example, say the word pig. The student echoes the word, isolates each sound, and determines the short vowel sound heard. The student then places the gem in the correct vowel.
Each tin comes with a lower case set of vowels and some assorted color gems.
