What is the store?
The LMA Student Store is a major part of Lake Michigan Academy’s Business curriculum. As part of the class, students are expected to manage all aspects of the business. They are involved in bookkeeping, monitoring and ordering inventory, developing the product line, setting prices, accurately maintaining the in-house credit lines, and more. The goal of the store is to provide students with a real-world experience while developing an understanding of the math that is involved behind the scenes in a business.
What does the store offer?
The LMA Student Store offers a large variety of reasonably-priced snack foods, beverages (available at both the store counter and vending machines), school supplies, and spirit wear (shirts, hats, bags). The store is also responsible for offering hot foods sold within the school (pizza, hot dogs, popcorn, and more). You may view our full menu here.
Do you offer healthy options?
Much of the food offered at the LMA Student Store is traditional snack foods (Cookies, crackers, trail mix, beef jerky, etc.). The LMA Student Store strives to find healthy, affordable products to offer the students of Lake Michigan Academy. As these products become available, they are added to the store inventory.
When is the store open?
The LMA Student Store is open during homeroom for those students who leave for other programs in the afternoon. The store is also open from 11:45AM until 12:05pm to serve all full-time students during their lunch hour.
How do students make purchases?
Students can make purchases either with cash or by writing a ‘check’ that withdrawals money from their student account.
Can limits be placed on what a student can buy at the store?
Unfortunately, there is not an effective (affordable) way for the LMA Student Store to limit what a student can buy from the store. However, restrictions can be put in place that prevent a student from making any purchases at the store.
How is money added to student accounts?
Money may be added to a student’s account by making a deposit (cash or check) into the brown lock-box located in the LMA office. Please place all deposits in an envelope. Please make sure the name of the student is written on the envelope.
How are parent’s notified when an account is out of money?
Student accounts are processed twice each week. After accounts have been processed, parents and students will receive an email that contains a link. Clicking on this link will allow them to see the current status of their account.
Please contact the LMA Student Store with any additional questions or concerns that you may have.
