Our Programs

All our education programs are designed around these common components:

  • Individual accommodations when appropriate
  • Core classes schedule based on individual academic level
  • Homeroom with an emphasis on teaching organizational skills and responsibility
  • 1:1 technology
  • Project based learning
  • Sensory breaks

Elementary Grades 1-5 / Middle School Grades 6-8

  • Remedial classes in reading, writing, and math
  • Specialized tutoring and reading program using the Orton-Gillingham approach
  • Development of fine and gross motor skills through physical education and fitness classes
  • Visual and performing arts
  • Extra recess

High School: Grades 9-12

  • Part-time enrollment offered (for high school)
  • Core high school classes schedule based on academic level and credit needs
  • Electives at private and public schools as well as at LMA for high school students
  • Electives and technical training at Kent Career Technical Center or Kent Transition Center for  (juniors and seniors students)
  • Work-study/Internship credit (seniors only)
  • State-approved diploma or certificate of completion available
  • Minimum of 22 credits
  • Michigan Merit Curriculum Requirements
  • Personal curriculum options based on post-secondary goals
