B.A. Education - Learning Disabilities
Katie Thompson has been teaching high school math at Lake Michigan Academy for five years. In that time she has taught Geometry, Personal Finance, and Algebra II. Katie has her bachelor's degree in Learning Disabilities from Cornerstone University, and she is working on getting her master’s in Education Leadership from Grand Valley State University. She has many areas of expertise, such as using hands-on techniques to teach math in a visual way, developing students’ confidence in math, reading intervention (Orton Gillingham certified), and developing high school mathematics curriculum in alignment with the Common Core Standards. Her hobbies are photography, being a mom, leading High School Youth Group, and playing with her new puppy.
